In this article, I share an interview with Ramune and Guus, who recently used my consultation service. Rather than summarizing the experience myself, I wanted to let their words speak directly.
Through this interview, you’ll see how they first heard about the service, what questions or concerns they had before booking, and what stood out most during the consultation. I hope this gives you a clearer, more concrete sense of how these sessions work and who they are designed for.
Below, I’ve shared the questions and answers as they were given, one by one.
1. How did you first learn about Ningen Dock in Japan?
Online search. Honestly I feel that I stumbled upon it.
2. What was your initial impression of healthcare or health checkups in Japan before this experience?
My impression is that 'executive physical exams' and health checkups in Japan are very advanced. I also have heard that Taiwan is very good.
3. What were your main concerns or uncertainties before booking?
My concerns were that I was not dealing with a credible agency. In these days of AI-generated content it seemed that there might be fake websites and services. I was also concerned that we only had a few weeks advance notice. Other services quoted as much as four months lead time for scheduling. Most websites were in Japanese and the English version of the websites were confusing. I wanted to get a fair price, but that was secondary to concerns regarding credibility and lead time.
4. Did you explore other services before choosing ours? If so, what felt missing or unclear in their offerings that made ours stand out?
I did look at other services but most websites are in Japanese and the English version of the websites are incomplete and confusing.
5. What ultimately convinced you to use our service for your Ningen Dock? (For example: clear information, transparent pricing, personalized guidance, or step-by-step explanations.)
The immediate response, the quality and promptness of communication were the first step towards feeling that this was a credible service. The options for scheduling made me feel that I would be able to schedule an appointment with only a few weeks advance planning. And then the video chat with Miki helped confirm that this was the right service for me. Her English was perfect and her medical background (educated as an MD and certified in Europe) made me feel that this was a credible service and I would be guided by a true professional.
6. How would you describe your communication experience with our team before the checkup? (For example: responsiveness, clarity, or how it addressed your questions.)
The communication from the team was perfect. All the questions I had were answered promptly.
7. How was the support during the checkup process itself? (For example: explanations, guidance, feeling reassured.)
During the checkup both me and my husband had translators with medical background accompany us through thentire appointment. We had thorough explanations of what was happening. In fact, this was one of the most enjoyable experiences we had in Japan. During those two hours we had a truly authentic Japanese experience. All of the other patients were Japanese. In fact, it is the normal annual exam for Japanese people.
8. After receiving your results, how did the explanation and follow-up support impact your understanding of your health?
We received the results about four weeks after the exam. It was nice that we traveled around Japan and finished our vacation without worry. Ultimately we received very thorough results and have a plan to follow up with our primary care physician at home.
9. What changed for you after going through Ningen Dock with our support? (For example: In how you think about your health, future, or lifestyle.)
We are much more aware of how Japanese people address health issues, which can be through medication, but more importantly through diet and lifestyle. We are making changes to our diet and following up with our primary care physician.
10. Who would you recommend this service to, and what would you say to someone who is still hesitant about Ningen Dock?
I would 100% recommend this service to anyone who is hesitant. This service may save your life. There is a risk of false positives, but since the tests are so comprehensive, a single false positive may be addressed by looking at other tests and supporting data. Since nearly every Japanese person does the Ningen dock every year, the level of expertise in interpreting results is much higher than in our home country.
11. Do you plan to take another Ningen Dock or health check in the future?
Yes, we plan to return every year. It's a great addition to a vacation in Japan.
